Enjoying the history and modern culture of the castle town, Kumamoto Castle is one of the three most famous castles in Japan, and its exterior and structure are breathtaking.
The “Sakura-no-Baba Josaien” complex of stores located under the castle is a sightseeing facility that gathers together the charms of Kumamoto’s history and food culture.
In the city center within walking distance of Kumamoto Castle, visitors can enjoy Kumamoto’s gourmet food and shopping, such as Kumamoto ramen and horse sashimi, mainly in the arcade streets called Kamidori and Shimodori.
